The SysMO Data Management
Pooling European research capacities and know-how in the field of systems biology is one of the core aims within SysMO. To support the transnational work of the SysMO consortia and to make it more efficiently, common structures are being established that go beyond the scientific work itself. These structures aim at the direct and continuous exchange of the scientific data and models and the joint usage beyond the borders of projects and nations. For this reason, the scientists involved in SysMO are jointly developing a joint data management strategy. To facilitate this process, a Data Management Group (DMG) has been created. The SysMO DMG is composed of ten representatives from all SysMO projects. Together with Carole Goble (University of Manchester, UK), Isabel Rojas (EML Research gGmbH, Heidelberg, Germany) and Jacky Snoep (University of Manchester, UK) the DMG has developed a concept for a horizontal structure for the management of data and models to support the transnational work effort generated by the SysMO community: SysMO DB.
