Given the long-term nature of the proposed cooperation and to ensure continuity of operations, a coherent management framework as illustrated will be established.
The highest decision making body of SysMO is the Steering Committee (see SC rules of procedure). . It consists of representatives of the national funding agencies. The tasks of the Steering Committee include taking funding decisions for projects, appointing members of the Scientific Advisory Board and monitoring progress achieved in SysMO. It is supported by a Secretariat (renames as SysMO Office) located at the Project Management Jülich (PtJ), Germany.
The Scientific Advisory Board consists of nine independent scientists who are not involved in any of the projects applying for funding or funded under SysMO. The members of the Scientific Advisory Committee are proposed by the national funding institutions involved in SysMO and are appointed by the Steering Committee. The main tasks of the Scientific Advisory Board are the scientific monitoring of the SysMO research and funding measure, the securing of its internationally competitive strategic orientation, the counselling of the Steering Committee and evaluation of the project proposals.
Each project is managed by a Project Coordinator. He/She must represent the project vis-a-vis the Steering Committee. The project coordinator should be supported by a Project Assistant (PA).
Together, all project coordinators constitute the Scientific Coordination Committee, which represents the SysMO funding activity externally and internally in all scientific matters vis-à-vis the national funding organizations involved.
Further details can be found in Project Management Guidelines which is part of the announcement.
